First Drone Under €100: What You Really Get
A drone under 100 € gives you a device weighing 27 to 150 grams, a camera without mechanical stabilization, between 8 and 15 minutes of flight per battery, and almost zero wind tolerance. It's not a bad purchase — it's simply a different product than a DJI. Well chosen, it's the device on which you learn to fly without fear of breaking it.
Here's what this article covers: what the spec sheet doesn't say, the three buyer profiles, and the model that matches each in our catalog.
What is a drone under 100 € really worth?
The difference between a 90 € drone and a 500 € drone is not about the advertised megapixels. It's about four points that no one highlights:
- Stabilization. Under 100 €, the camera is fixed or electronically stabilized (EIS). No mechanical gimbal. Result: a decent image in calm weather, shaky as soon as there is wind.
- GPS. Almost never present at this price. Without GPS, no automatic position hold and no return to home point. The drone drifts, it's up to you to correct.
- The motor. Brushed motors on entry-level, brushless above 69 €. Brushless motors last longer and push harder — this is the true marker of quality at this price point.
- The advertised resolution. An "8K" on a 40 € sensor is a software interpolation figure. The actual quality is around decent 1080p. We prefer to say it.
What you get in return: a device you can fly in the living room, lend to a child, put in a backpack, and break without it being a financial drama.
Which model for which use?
| Model | Price | Weight | For whom |
|---|---|---|---|
| Micro folding Drone | 39,90 € | 27 g | Gift, indoor, first contact |
| Indestructible Dragon Fly | 49,90 € | Micro, full protection | Children, indoor flight, repeated shocks |
| Mini Rocket (GT3) | 69,90 € (79,90 € with screen) | Under 250 g | First real outdoor flight, brushless motors |
| K900 MAX | 89,90 € | Under 250 g | First flying camera, introductory aerial photography |
Under 50 €: the indoor device
At this price, you get a foldable 27-gram drone that fits in a pocket. The Micro folding Drone at 39,90 € flies in a living room, takes off from the palm of your hand, and is controlled by smartphone. Outdoors, the slightest breath of wind carries it away. It's an honest toy, sold as such.
Between 50 and 80 €: the first real flight
This is where brushless motors appear, and with them the ability to stay in a garden in calm weather. The Mini Rocket at 69,90 € also comes in a version with an integrated screen remote control at 79,90 € — practical if you don't want to tie up your phone for every flight.
Around 90 €: the introductory flying camera
The K900 MAX at 89,90 € is the top of this category: foldable, dual camera, WiFi FPV. This is the model to choose if the goal is to bring back vacation images rather than to learn precise piloting.

Is a drone under 100 € affected by regulations?
Yes, in part. Even under 250 grams, as soon as the device is equipped with a camera, operator registration on AlphaTango is mandatory and free. Registration of the drone itself only becomes mandatory from 800 grams — no model on this page is concerned. Flight rules, however, apply to everyone: 120 meters maximum altitude, no night flight, never over a gathering of people.

The three most frequent mistakes at this budget
- Buying only one battery. Eight minutes of flight is eight minutes. Two additional batteries completely transform the experience.
- Starting outdoors. The first flight is indoors, in a clear room. Outdoors, a beginner loses a 40g drone in thirty seconds.
- Believing the advertised resolutions. If image quality is the absolute priority, the realistic minimum budget is not 90 € but 350 €, with a real stabilized gimbal.

Frequently asked questions
Can a drone under 100 € film correctly?
Indoors or in perfectly calm weather, yes, in a quality close to usable 1080p. As soon as there is wind, the absence of a mechanical gimbal is immediately visible in the image.
What is the minimum age to pilot?
French regulations set the minimum age for a remote pilot at 14 years in the open category. A younger child can fly under the direct supervision of an adult registered as an operator.
How long does a battery last?
Between 8 and 15 minutes depending on the model and temperature. In cold weather, count 30% less.
Is insurance required?
It is not mandatory for recreational use, but your civil liability remains engaged in case of damage. Check if your home insurance already covers the use of a recreational remotely piloted aircraft.
Can it be taken on a plane?
Yes, in carry-on baggage only, batteries included and protected. Lithium batteries are prohibited in checked baggage.
